If I Only Had A Heart
By Bill Dablow • Oct 2nd, 2008 • Share:The Tin Man asked the Wizard for a new heart and got one. I on the other hand will have to keep the one I’ve got. I spoke with my cardiologist and he informed me that the results from my cardio tests “looked good.” Then I got the “however.” Life would bemuch simpler without the “howevers.” Part of my heart trouble might be related to a condition called disruptive sleep apnea. Simply put, there’s a chance that I quit breathing while I sleep. Nice that I know that!!! Now I’ll live in fear of closing my eyes!!! So now I’m off to a sleep clinic to see if I’m sleeping correctly? What a world! Now when people ask “did you sleep good?” I can say “I’m not sure, I may have made a couple mistakes!” According to my cardiologist, sleep apnea can cause the heart some serious trouble. From what I’ve been told the treatment involves being hooked up to a machine while you sleep. My first reaction was ”great, I move from radioactive goop in my arms to an iron lung!” After doing some research, the machines are life savers and a person can get used to them with ease. More tests next week. Something called a “muga test?” Sounds delightful yeah? I’ll keep you all posted.
