Wedding Planners

Not having children it’s a forgone conclusion that I’ve never had to be involved the “planning” of a wedding. Lately I’ve been counting that as one of my greater blessings! Like a classic painting or work or art where it’s all in the details, weddings and their preparations are much the same. I used to think that people who organized weddings picked up a few dresses, tuxedos and had their neighbor down the street bake a cake. Then everyone just showed up. On the contrary, it’s all about the smallest of details. From the embossed napkins to the after dinner mints. I’ve witnessed incredible stress at all levels. Ilisten to the chaos and confusion in planning a wedding while the 10CC song “The Things We Do For Love” dances in my head. I’m fascinated that an event celebrating one of our most endearing emotions should border on anarchy in it’s planning. To me, the day comes and the day goes. Hopefully wonderful memories are left in the wake of so much planning. Now I understand why wedding planners charge what they do. I have trouble matching my socks so that is one career I’ll never aspire to.
