WHAT A COUNTRY

“What a country!”
There was a comedian who was fairly famous in the 1980’s named Yakoff Smirnoff who used that phrase as the punch line of a lot of his jokes. He was a Russian who defected to America, and would marvel at the freedoms we enjoyed in the United States. It made fpr some great humor.
That phrase rolled through my head throughout election night. I am fortunate to be able to be a part of the media and cover the event. I was privy to all the return results, and it was my honor to be able to report them to you. There were so many important races to be determined on the national, state, and local level. From the President of the United States, to the Breckenridge school board.
The votes have all been counted. The positions have been filled. This country is at an interesting place in our history. Whether the candidates that you supported won, or lost… stand proud in the fact that you voted. You were part of history in the making. You live in the greatest country in the world. A country where we have the right and priveledge to elect our officials. We are part of the process. That is why so many people want to live here. That is why so many people will give anything to become a citizen of this great nation. Because in this country, we DO have a voice, we DO have the freedom to choose who leads us.
No matter where you lean politically, take heart in the fact that you are an American. I think we can all agree that is pretty great!
